Barnesdall Community Needs Prayers After Devastating Tornado

Barnsdall Hit Hard

A devastating tornado tore through the city of Barnsdall, Oklahoma on Monday night, killing at least one person and leaving a trail of destruction. The unidentified person died as a result of the tornado in Barnsdall, a city of about 1,000 people some 40 miles north of Tulsa.

It was the second tornado to hit Barnsdall in five weeks. A twister on April 1 with maximum winds of 110 mph caused significant damage to the city. The latest tornado was part of a severe weather outbreak that spawned multiple tornadoes across Oklahoma and Kansas.

Extent of the Damage

At least 30 to 40 homes in the town were destroyed, and many more were damaged. The tornado also caused damage to businesses and other structures. The extent of the damage is still being assessed, but it is clear that the community of Barnsdall will need significant help in rebuilding.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for much of Oklahoma, including Barnsdall. Residents are urged to be prepared to take shelter if a tornado warning is issued.
