Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski signed a security agreement in Brussels on October 1, 2020. Under the terms of the agreement, Belgium will provide €1 billion in aid to Ukraine to help the country strengthen its defense capabilities.
The De Croo I government, which took office on October 1, 2020, has made supporting Ukraine a top priority. The government has already provided €100 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and it has also sent military equipment and training to the country.
The security agreement signed on October 1 is the latest sign of Belgium's commitment to supporting Ukraine. The agreement will help Ukraine to improve its ability to defend itself against Russian aggression.
